Vizag Administrative Capital Plans To Be Delayed?YS Jagan Mohan Reddy‘s Ambitious plans of having the Executive Capital in Vishakapatnam may face an inordinate delay. The government had planned to shift the Secretariat to the Millennium Towers at Rushikonda and even got the IT Companies there to vacate the premises.

The latest is that Indian Navy had objected to the State Government’s Plan to have the Secretariat in Millennium Towers citing Security Concerns. Millenium Towers are closer to INS Kalinga, which is Indian Navy’s Key Asset in the East Coast. With Navy denying the permission, AP Government had to drop the plan.

The Civilian movement and Urban Development will increase near the crucial security establishment if Government’s proposal is accepted. This will delay the Capital Shift as there is no real Estate which can cater to the needs of the Secretariat. Moreover, the Government is not keen on constructing new buildings as well.

As such a move will be portrayed as money wastage when there are Buildings ready in Amaravati. Moreover, there will be challenges of Land Acquisition and Funds for new constructions. Let us see what the Government does now!
