What is Pizza 2: Villa about?
Jebin (Ashok Selvan) is a struggling writer who is finding it hard to get his book published. After his father dies he comes to know that he has an ancestral Villa to name. Jebin plans of selling the villa to get his book published but strange things happen there which has effects on his lover Arthi (Sanchitha Shetty) and people he knows. What are the strange things and why do they happen is what makes Villa.

How is lead pairs performance?
For starters both Ashok Selvan and Sanchitha Shetty look the part they play in the film. But unfortunately their performance looks rushed and lacks any emotion what so ever. Editing could be a reason for this but still the necessary emotion required for the respective parts is missing and it mostly appears superficial. Only poses and looks but no real performance.

How is Deepan Chakravarthy’s direction?
Director has chosen an interesting theme to tell in the film. But the execution is far from convincing which nullifies any impact that could have been possible. There are still moments especially in the second half that are interesting but the sum of the parts never equals the whole. It feels like in order to get the twist ending the director has made a mess of the climax.

Villa-Review
How is it compared to Pizza?
There isn’t even a comparison, Pizza is in a different league altogether.

Santosh-Villa-ReviewMusic and other departments?
Films of this genre have very little scope in terms of music still the director manages to extract one good melody from Santosh Narayan. It is however placed wrongly in the film hence reducing its impact. On the other hand background music which is very crucial for films of this kind is very neatly done. There is not much background score but whenever it’s used, especially the theme, it’s done well. Also it’s not noisy and there are no screams that one generally expects. Editing is poor. Cinematography is fine as usual.

Highlights?
Interval
Revelation of the main theme
Sequences till the climax after the revelation

Drawbacks?
First half till interval
Climax could have been handled better

Villa-Review
What about its box office prospects?
Since it isn’t a regular commercial film, people those who are bored of those regular junk might prefer the film which means a decent run for a week or two. But as a number of films are lined up in the coming days Villa might find it hard to survive unless the word of mouth shows growth. It’s a publicity dependent film.

Did I enjoy it?

Partially.
