What is the film about? Thikka Movie Review Story
Adithya (Sai Dharam Tej) falls in love with Anjali ( LArissa Bonesi) on their first accidental meet. Soon he changes all his lifestyle as per her wish. One day, after two years in the relationship, Anjali calls it quit. What happens on that day after she has left him is what the film is all about.
How is Sai Dharam Tej’s performance?
Sai Dharam Tej gives a very hyper and over the top performance. It can easily get on one’s nerves and it actually does at times. But those parts are immediately covered by mellowed act at times and on other occasions is drowned by a higher level of overaction going around him. The dances are fine and dressing is stylish in parts.
Direction By Sunil Reddy? Thikka Movie Review Direction Issues
Director Suneel Reddy made his debut with the film Om 3D. The film was a disaster at the box office but one can see that the director didn’t try to do the usual. Although important elements were copied, he still made it in a unique way, unlike any other Telugu film.
One can say the same thing about Thikka as well. There is a huge Hollywood hangover visible throughout the film. The style and the humor are acquired taste and it is not for everybody. Finally, the film is a hit and miss kind of film. There are parts that are truly hilarious and there are parts that are atrocious and make one squirm uncomfortably in their places.
The biggest problem with the film is the director’s inability to cut things where necessary. There are many scenes, with the climax being the best example, where scene start off on a hilarious note with a good punch but soon the impact is lost as its stretched beyond bearable amounts. The jokes loose the punch and one is left tearing the hairs at what is being unveiled on screen. We have said in the trailer talk, a film like Thikka either clicks in a big way or crumbles all the way with no respite to the viewers. Thikka unfortunately, belongs to the later category.
Larissa Bonesi and others?
Larissa Bonesi looks good and is decent in the role given to her. It’s decent because there is nothing much given to her and she has to be all awkward in few scenes which she manages well. Mannara is completely wasted in a poorly written character. Rajendra Prasad too suffers from the same problem. He is alright in the time he is given. Besides hero two comedians Sathya and Sapthagiri are present throughout the film. Sapthagiri is hilarious in parts but when he is not he is alright in the background. Sathya on the other hand overacts and gets irritating at times when he is misfiring. Ajay is neat and so is Fish Venkat as his sidekick. Posani Krishna Murali is alright. Vennela Kishore is okay.
Music and other departments? Thikka Movie Review Technical Analasys
Music by Thaman is good. Background score is better but at times gets too loud and repetitive. The cinematography is okay. The director has tried different editing styles but only a few work. Dialogues are funny in parts.
Highlights? Thikka Review Positives
Few comedy blocks
Drawbacks? Thikka Review Negatives
OTT execution with lots of silliness
Stretched comedy sequences
Make the jokes shorter, length crispier and tight editing. With all those things there is a film in Thikka itself that could be funny and engaging.
Did I enjoy it?
