What is the film about?
Seenu and Shailaja are united by destiny but fate separates them. Seenu is later emotionally blackmailed to marry someone of his family’s choice. How destiny again brings them together is what the film is about.
How is Gopichand’s performance?
Gopichand’s performance can be summed up in one word, reliable. There is nothing in the film that one has not seen before or can recall as memorable. It’s a typical act that he has been doing in all his films on a regular basis with ease.
Direction By AS Ravi Kumar Chowdary?
Ravikumar Chowdhary has in the past delivered couple of solid films with strong direction. Unfortunately Soukyam is not one of those. The film lacks cohesiveness and narrative energy to engage the audience throughput. There are bits and pieces here and there that do manage to engage but those are very few. The result is even at a decent run time the film appears lengthy. Only the portion before interval and couple of scenes post interval are good. The spoofs in the film begin well but end up leaving bad taste in the mouth. The really worst part is the climax where after all the build up and trouble, it takes only a slap to bring change in character. It feels like a slap on the audiences who have come to be entertained.
Regina Cassandra and others?
Once again Regina Cassandra does her part well both performance and glamour wise. But there is not much scope for her to make any impact. Mukesh Rishi has been doing few soft roles in between his usual villain outings, this is one those and he plays it convincingly. Pradeep Rawat plays the usual part where as Devan is miscast. Sivaji Raja is decent in the small role and the rest of character artists group involving the likes of Raghu Babu, Surekha Vani, Pragathi etc play their roles in typical fashion which they have done countless times before. Comedians Prudhvi, Krishna Bhagwan, Sapthagiri, Jayaprakash Reddy and Brahmanandam etc are wasted without proper characters.
Music and other departments?
Music for the film is provided by Anup Rubens. This is a run of the mill album from his with no song creating an impact. The background score is no better. Editing of the film is poor and so is cinematography. On the whole Soukyam is a poor film on technical standards. Choreography of songs too is unimaginative. Dialogues are bad overall with very few good bits.

Alternative Take
At this point it’s really hard to think of an alternative take as most of the films have come with similar set up and execution. May be someone could do a film with real serious stakes involved rather than making a joke out of it.
