What Is the Film About?
Indhu (Payal Rajput) falls in love with Shiva (Karthikeya) at the first sight. She makes all the moves and finally gets what she wants. Vishwanatham (Rao Ramesh), father of Indu looks like the apparent villain. What happens when he comes to know about the love is what the movie is all about?
How Is Karthikeya’s Performance?
Let’s just put it at the upfront hero of the movie is film’s biggest weakest. He is only a poser and lacks vulnerability and depth. There are numerous scenes that could be elevated with right performance from the lead. The attitude that is required for the character is totally missing. The pre climax and climax really highlights the inability despite the best efforts by the hero.
Direction by Ajay?
When the stories are strong sometimes weak performances or other issues might be covered. But when the stories are weak or predictable it is imperative that the writing and acting stand out. The story based on a real happening is not an excuse for inept performances. Director Ajay fails in this aspect big time and that is what brings down Rx100.
The story is routine and predictable which even a common moviegoer can guess. The performances of the lead, especially the hero and heroine have to be exceptional to make things work. The superficial act by hero spoils the whole exercise which undoubtedly seems to be made with passion. There are numerous moments that fails because of hero. The all important pre-climax and climax scenes are biggest example.
The movie begins on an interesting note and takes a predictable turn when the love story begins. It is ‘predictable’ because of the way its shown. Everyone in the audience gets the intention of the ‘love’. So, when the expected happens it isn’t surprising. The only scene where there is a genuine surprise and generates genuine applause is the Rao Ramesh interaction with daughter during the pre-climax. Now that was unexpected. Lack of such scenes and poor performance from lead reduces the impact the ‘violent’ love story could have actually had.
Overall Rx 100 is a genuine attempt with a predictable story that has women in negative space. The content despite its predictability might hold interest for small percentage of youth. Otherwise, strictly speaking its a below average fare.
Payal and Others?
Heroine has a solid role in taking the narrative forward. Payal Rajput has done a decent job in playing the character as per the requirements. The climax cigeratte scene kind of ruins the whole act, as that comes across as imitation rather than looking like someone who actually smokes. Ramki and Rao Ramesh are good in their respective roles. The rest of the cast is apt for their parts, but have nothing much to do in showing their acting skills.
Music and Other Departments?
Music by Chaitan Bharadwaj is alright. It follows a template approach. The same is true of the background score as well which doesn’t stand out. The cinematography is alright. The editing could have been better.
Short film execution
No emotional connect
Better actor in the lead and screenplay would have turned the whole thing upside down in appreciating the effort.
Did I Enjoy It?
Very few parts

The director, Ajay Bhupathi is quite confident that this bold movie will impress the audiences big time. The hero of the movie, Karthikeya was quite impressive and gave the audiences hope to expect some solid raw action that is quite genuine.
