Tough to sit.
152 mins, “U/A” certified.
What is the film about?
Chandu (Aadi) is an orphan. He believes true love must end with marriage by convincing the people on either sides. When he meets a girl Nandu (Rakul Preet Singh) with similar views, he doesn’t hesitate for a moment to love. The problem rises in the form of her brother Siddharth (Srihari) and his own past. How he overcomes them is what the film is about.
How is Aadi’s performance?
Aadi has tried an out and out mass stuff this time. It still revolves around love and his act is still the same like all his previous films. He is surely growing in terms of confidence but his subject selection so far has been extremely poor barring one or two occasions. More than his act or lack of improvement in his act, his subjects are hurting him the most.
Direction By C H Subba Reddy?
Director Subba Reddy has a complete commercial film in his hand with very thin storyline. The success or lack of is complete dependent on the screenplay and execution. He is let down on both counts. He is able to bring tension into the narrative only on few occasions in this long bore of a film. The basic conflict between hero and Srihari has what is takes to engage but the way screenplay unfolds makes one wish it all ends so soon.
Rakul Preeth Singh and others performance?
For those who are still unaware, Rough is actually the first film signed by Rakul Preet Singh. She is good looking and is pleasant present on screen be it in songs or otherwise. However there is nothing for her to do performance wise. Late Srihari has an important role in the film but its ruined by the dubbing. Raghubabu and gang are okay at best. None of the other artists make an impression even though number of known faces are present as usual.
Mani Sharma and other departments?
Music by Mani Sharma is poor but he makes up for it with his background score. Editing is alright. Cinematography is very good and gives the film a rich look. Dialogues are decent.
Aadi and Srihari characters
Extremely dragging climax
As said above the track involving Chandu (Aadi) and Siddharth (Srihari) had the potential. The suspense triangle involving them with heroine at the center should have made for a better entertainer although still the predictable. But the additional masala angle of hero with flashback ruined it all.
Did I enjoy it?
No, except very few countable scenes.
Will you recommend it?
