What is Remo about?
A wannabe actor falls in love with a girl. How he impresses her and wins love, in the end, is what the film is all about.
How is Sivakarthikeyan’s performance?
Sivakarthikeyan is the backbone of the film. Without him, there is no film. In fact, there would be nothing in the film to watch. His lady act is the interesting point in the film. Sivakarthikeyan is confident and he has good screen presence which makes even the silliest of things watchable. His nurse get up is fabulous and literally passes of as a female. But outside the nurse get up it doesn’t look that convincing. As it’s the first film that one is watching his act doesn’t come across as repetitive.
Direction By Bakkiyaraj Kannan?
Director Bakkiyaraj Kannan has a very very simple story in hand. As is with such films, the screenplay has to be engaging to keep one hooked or in alternative case, the hero has to have a charismatic presence to keep one hooked even if there is mediocre stuff.
With Remo, one has to say it is a combination of both the cases. There are engaging funny sequences, good music, and a hero-heroine chemistry who together make one sit through mediocre stuff as well. But all that feels enough in the first half itself. By the time we get into the second half, the jokes run thin and sentiment slowly begins to take over. it is poor and no matter how well the lead actor’s try, there is just nothing for them to pull. The ending bit is nice.
Keerthy Suresh and others?
Keerthy Suresh looks like a dream in the film. Her acting is reminiscent in parts of Jyothika. Overall she is fine. Saranya Ponvannan is way over the top. Satish is good as hero’s friend but it is nothing special. KS Ravikumar plays himself, he is okay. Others have very little to no role to make an impact or be memorable.
Music and other departments?
Music and background score by Anirudh Ravichandar is awesome. There is a problem with lyrics in Telugu translation slightly that hampers the overall effect. PC Sreeram shows his great gift as cinematographer. Editing is good. There are two action scenes and they are very neatly done. Dialogues could have been better.

Alternative Take
No matter how good the lead pair is when the motivation for the love in love story is fickle everything else doesn’t seem natural. An alternative take would be to have a solid reason for this love. If not then have a solid conflict to get that love or a strong force in opposition.
