What is “Race Gurram” about?
Race Gurram is basically the story of brothers Ram and Lakshman. One is righteous by the books kind of guy where as the other is street smart but with a heart of gold kind of guy. How there lives take turn due to villain Shiva Reddy is basically what the film is all about.
How is Allu Arjun’s performance?
Allu Arjun is basically the lifeline of the film. His hard work on the comedy skills and improvement in that regard is the highlight of the film. While he shows improvement in one aspect he lapses in one category that made him popular in the first place which are dances. There is no real effort put by the actor in this aspect which might come as disappoint to few.
How is Direction by Surendra Reddy?
Surender Reddy comes up with another freshly packaged film like his previous attempts. The problem here is that the film puts the story in background for the sake of entertainment. Even the entertainment that is present isn’t universal in a massy sense. Its over the top for sure but its classy at the same time. So this slows down the films progress a lot. The actual conflict is very neatly built which gives us a hope of some great payoff but the resolution is ultimately achieved once again through comedy that is bombarded to us in a nonstop fashion sothat we don’t have the time to think what really happened. And when we actually think about it we feel nothing much has happened. This ultimately makes the film an average fare by the director.
Shruthi Haasan and other artists performance?
Shruti Haasan has a presence almost through out the film but there is no real importance to her character in the main plot of the film. She adds value to the film glamour wise though. Sham gets a good role after a long time and incidentally the last such film too was by the same director. He is perfect for the role not over shadowing the hero. Overall he is effective and a major asset for the film. Something similar can be said of villain Ravi Kishan. He gives the same predictable character a freshness with his act. However he isn’t utilized to his potential. Brahmanandam as Kill Bill Pandey elevates the proceedings for the time he is present. Tanikella Bharani, MS Nararayana, Jayaprakash Reddy, Prakash Raj, Mukesh Rushi and Posani are adequate for their respective roles. Nothing special from any of them. Saloni gets noticed in the small role thanks to her accent.
How is Music and other Department?
Music by SS Thaman is catchy and for a change he comes up with good background score as well. Cinematography is superb and gives the film a very polished look. Editing especially in action scenes should have been better otherwise its fine. Choreography of songs is decent.

What about the box office performance of the film?
Race Gurram has all it takes to be a success at box office. But the thing holding it back is the timing of release in the politically muddled environment. Even if a success, the big range is doubtful due to an average film at hand.
