Remake With No Soul
What is the film about? Premam Review Telugu Script
Premam is a love story of Vikram (Naga Chaitanya) in three different phases of his life spanning over two decades. The three phases are school, college and post-college. What happens in the end, is the basic story of the film.
How is Naga Chaitanya’s performance?
Naga Chaitanya has limited screen presence and acting capabilities which are suited only for particular kind of movies. And every time he has tried to bite more than he can chew he has failed. Luckily Premam is not one of those films. He has done fairly well as the role basically suits his strengths. The weakness is exposed when the variations in character have to be shown and he puts similar act all the way with varying degrees of over action. Remember there is a difference between over action and showing variation.
Direction By Chandoo Mondeti?
Chandoo Mondeti made a confident debut with the film Karthikeya. It was a moderately budgeted film but with good quality. It had great set up and good middle but ultimately fizzles out in the end. After watching the second film, one can’t help but feel the director follows a similar trajectory with his second outing as well, even though the genres of these two films are as different as they can be.
The beginning of the film is decent with a younger looking Naga Chaitanya going bonkers. Before one can make an impression of his performance the track is over and we get into the best part of the film that lasts three-fourth of the film. The chapter with Shruti Haasan is without any doubt best part of the film.
The problem surfaces in the final act when the last chapter of the film begins. It is rushed and lacks any real emotion. Though there is a connection made with the first chapter but it doesn’t generate the required feel. More than the length, which is adequate, lack of feel or the artificialness is the problem here. Entire film has been re-written with new scenes following the same story, an appreciable aspect, but everything new doesn’t automatically mean good. Overall Premam is a decent fare just like the debut film of the director. It could have been so much more but alas the makers chose to go for the low hanging fruits.
Shruti Haasan, Madonna Sebastian, Anupama Parameswaran and others?
Anupama Parameswaran, Shruti Haasan, and Madonna Sebastian play the three female leads in the film. Among the three Shruti Haasan has the crucial role. She is alright in the role but fails to make it memorable one. Anupama and Madonna reprise their roles from the original with few modified portions. They are good. Praveen and Chaitanya Krishna are cast as friends of the hero. The former is fine but the latter is wasted. Prudhvi is seen in a small role. He has only one scene to make a mark where he was okay. Still, it is good to see him do something other than his usual stuff. Venkatesh and Nagarjuna were superb in their guest roles.
Music and other departments?
Music for the film is given by two composers, Gopi Sunder and Rajesh Pillai. Few numbers reused from the original are good. Even the background score has been used which is also good. Editing should have been better. Cinematography is good in parts. Dialogues are alright.
