Okka Ammayi Thappa ReviewWhat is the film about?
A terrorist threatens to blow up the high tech city with flyover if his demands are not met. How a random youth with super intelligence Krishna Vachan (Sundeep Kishan) saves the day and also rediscovers the love of his life Mango (Nithya Menen) is what the film is all about.

How is Sundeep’s performance?
Sundeep Kishan is his usual self as far as performance is considered. One must remember that change in characterization doesn’t mean change in performance, the two are mutually exclusive and we see that at display here.

Okka Ammayi Thappa ReviewDirection By Rajasimha Tadinada?
Rajasimha has chosen a novel plot wherein the unique thing is the whole set up and execution of the film happening on a flyover. While the plot is novel to pull it off the screenplay has to be equally novel and immensely gripping. This is where the film falters and falters big time.

Everything else besides the point of entire movie happening on a flyover is predictable and even corny to an extent. From a terrorist demand to release another terrorist, long separated lovers meeting accidentally, the comedy insertions to keep humor going, everything follows the predictable line.

There is literally no different or excitement felt in the first half or the second half. It is only towards the end that some sort of curiosity is generated when the villain and hero have a face off and how hero discovers the real character. Its short but with everything that precedes it, there is a sort of engagement felt momentarily. Overall barring this brief moment Oka Ammayi Tappa is a disappointment.

Okka Ammayi Thappa ReviewNithya Menen and others?

Nithya Menen assures two things in all her films. One, its her performance and two her characterization which is always integral to the proceedings. In the film Oka Ammayi Tappa, she fails on both this aspects and this is the biggest disappointment from the movie. There are many artists present in the film from comedians like Ali, Sapthagiri, Prudhvi, Tagubothu Ramesh and Venu etc but none manage to create an impact. Some like Prudhvi are too loud and irritating. Jayaprakash is wasted and Ajay too has small time to make an impression. Finally, Ravi Kishan has a long presence along with hero but his performance too is way loud to categorize it as likeable. It’s a step down from his last outing which was genuinely liked.

Okka Ammayi Thappa ReviewMusic and other departments?
Mickey J Mayer feels overheard courtesy multiple films in past two weeks. This is clearly the weakest among his recent efforts. Both the songs and background score is below par. Cinematography by senior Chota K Naidu is okay at best. It alters between decent to poor throughout. Editing is alright. VFX are a major let down. Dialogues should have been sharper to create an impact.

Okka Ammayi Thappa ReviewAlternative Take
For alternative take we have to suggest couple of films with similar terrorist theme and novel ideas, Aamir and A Wednesday. When you see these films the thematic similarities can be felt but unlike Oka Ammayi Tappa, these films retain novelty and gripping narrative all the way.
