What is the film about?
Nayaki is a typical revenge of the ghost flick. Only the ghost this time is played by Trisha, everything else almost remains same.
How is Trisha’s performance?
There is nothing in the film to speak about Trisha’s performance except for brief moments in the second half of the film. Apart from that its usual walk in the park for her literally.
Direction By Goverdhan Reddy? Nayaki Review Directorial Department
Govardhan Reddy makes his debut as director with the film which is pretty routine and done to death formula by now. Strong screenplay is needed to keep one hooked to the film but with the film failing big time in that aspect it fails to entertain.
The film begins interesting showing glimpses of the horror and establishing the location. But what happens afterwards is a huge disappointment. Nothing really happens and everything is predicable. There are funny moments purely due to the actor’s involvement but nothing from story point. Comedy is what makes one bear with the proceedings.
By the time we get into the second half the comedy is boring, the single location gets tiresome and finally when the flashback is unveiled, it literally kills the film even though its neatly executed to be fair to the director. After all this the end is silly and looks rather forced. On the whole Nayaki is tiresome and boring film.
Other artists performance?
Satyam Rajesh once again gets a role that highlights him not just as a mere comedian but more as a character actor. It is a good outing for him. Sushma Raj is well cast for the part and she does it convincingly. Jayaprakash is routine. Brahmanandam and Kovai Sarala are utterly wasted. Ganesh Venkatraman is decent in brief appearance.

Raghu Kunche’s music feels totally out of sync with the whole narrative of the film barring a brief nit song. Background score by Sai Karthik is on predictable lines. Cinematography is alright. Editing should have been lot better.

Alternative Take
We have had so many films made on same lines so an alternate take feels pointless for this. Still if they had made it completely a film set in old times or like a dark comedy some freshness could have been felt.
