Kalyan Ram - Naa Nuvve ReviewWhat Is the Film About?
Meera (Tamannaah) falls in love with Varun (Kalyan Ram) believing its destiny. However, Varun has no such belief. How the later falls in love with her and fate brings them together is what the film is all about?

How Is Kalyan Ram’s Performance?
One has to appreciate Kalyan Ram for picking a character that is far away in nature from his usual mass staple. But mere appreciation means nothing when the attempt doesn’t work and it is far worse when it irritates. The latter happens with Naa Nuvve. Kalyan Ram trying to underplay entirely misses the character, and that in turns takes away the little life from the narrative. A couple of scenes are beautiful, but the real persona of Kalyan Ram is always threatening to come out, and that is never a good sign in a different attempt.

Director - Jjayendra - PanchapakesanDirection by Jayendra Panchapakesan?
Director P Jayendra is not a filmmaker in a typical commercial sense. He has only made one film before Naa Nuvve technically speaking, and that was almost seven years ago. After all the years looking at Naa Nuvve one feels Jayendra has lost the sheen with visuals, his best asset as a director.

Naa Nuvve suffers on multiple counts. But the most primary aspect is the story which lacks a substantial conflict. Also, the theme of destiny is a tough thing to pull off on the screen. It could have worked as a track or a subplot, in fact, there are many movies which have employed that, but an entire narrative on that hook is a hard sell, apart from hard to make.

Another big problem, particularly with the director, is the making style. The idea to make small memorable and intimate moments with a lingering effect is right, but the way it has been executed and the background score that accompanies the scene interrupts the flow. Add half-baked dialogues into the mix and what we have is scene after scene crumbling before our eyes.

There is a scene or two that makes the destiny theme look interesting in the first half. But apart from those, there is nothing. The subplot involving the father is terribly executed. The final act falls apart. The magic that the characters keep talking about and emphasise is never visible on the screen. Overall, Naa Nuvve is a simple tale, told even simplistically with zero connectivity and emotions. The destiny has missed the boat in Naa Nuvve.

Tamanna Bhatia - Naa Nuvve ReviewTamannaah and Others?
Tamannaah is probably the only actor in the movie who looks like part of the dreamy destiny set up the film tries to portray. She tries her best to infuse a sense of magic and innocence with her act, but it gets repetitive and boring after a point as there is very little depth to it. The rest of the cast in the movie has nothing significant to do even though it includes names like Praveen, Vennela Kishore, Tanikella Bharani etc.

Music Director SharrethMusic and Other Departments?
Sharreth has done a strictly okay job with the music. Two songs stand out along with the background score in few places. The cinematographer of the movie is legendary PC Sreeram. He has been part of some visual wonders where his work has stood out as the best thing even when everything else fails. Naa Nuvve has to be his weakest in a long time. The writing is below par.

Preview: Naa Nuvve

We have seen Kalyan Ram in ‘Athanokkade’, ‘Pataas’, ‘Ism’, ‘MLA’ etc in which we have seen him playing only typical mass action characters. ‘Naa Nuvve‘ is totally different one for the Nandamuri hero who never tried a proper romantic soft love story.

He is coming with an out-and-out love story that would definitely show him in a new angle as a lover who we never saw before. We have to wait and see if he would be accepted as a lover by the audiences who saw him in only mass roles to date.

To be frank, he was impressive in the promo and Tamannah gave those positive vibes for the love story with her presence in the soft romantic scenes. The decent audio is one more plus for ‘Naa Nuvve’ like for any love story. The short duration will also help the movie if Kalyan Ram can impress in this new role.

If the love story is impressive enough, Kalyan Ram would get all the brownie points as an actor. It’s backed up by good technicians like the Director of Photography, PC Sreeram. Director Jayendra Panchapakesan has done very few films and we have to wait and see if he can really deliver a different movie for Kalyan Ram.

As far as the movie is concerned, ‘Naa Nuvve’ will remain a different attempt for the hero. Only that, we have to wait and see if that different attempt turned fruitful or not and if the mass hero would be accepted as a genuine lover. wait for our ‘Naa Nuvve’ review from the mirchi9 team. Stay tuned, folks!

Naa Nuvve US premier gross – $45,598.
