Rahul Ramakrishna-Mithai Movie ReviewWhat Is the Film About?
Sai (Rahul Ramakrishna) comes drunk to his house after a party. The next day he wakes up to see valuable things being stolen which includes a necklace bought for his fiancée. One thing leads to another, and a bet is done to find the thief within three days or else the marriage should be put off. What happens afterward is what the film is all about?

How Is Rahul Ramakrishna ‘s Performance?
Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi are both joint leads of the movie. It is like a two-hero project, and they share equal footage. Without any doubt, both the actors share a nice bromance. They play off each other very well, and that is the only reason one can sit through a few minutes of the movie or is ready to go through the suffering for a small portion.

Director Prashant Kumar-Mithai Movie ReviewDirection by Prasanth Kumar?
Director Prasanth Kumar makes his debut with Mithai. He claims it to be a dark comedy, but unfortunately, that is never the impression we get apart from a couple of sequences at best. It looks more like a farce with mostly silly happenings.

The movie loses track within the first few minutes itself. And from then onwards it meanders and is all over the place. The only thing that keeps the narrative together or gives that feeling is the pair of Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi. From time to time they explain what the hell is happening to each new character and also remind the audience regarding the proceedings.

There is no difference in the first half and the second half. It is one continues journey where we meet a new character every few minutes down the line. After a point, one just doesn’t care at all. There is zero connect with what is happening on screen as each character comes with its quirk, does their bit and leaves.

We also have some philosophical rumination about life in the process which eventually becomes a big issue towards the end with the breakdown of a character. It doesn’t work and looks out of place due to everything else that has preceded it. A proper exploration of that arc with a bittersweet ending would surely have been fantastic. But, sadly that is not the case.

Overall, Mithai is an interesting idea terribly executed. It has gone wrong from the word go, and tonal inconsistencies are only a part of the problem.

Swetha Varma -Mithai Movie ReviewAditi Myakal and Others?
Apart from the lead actors, no one else has a well-defined role. Kamal Kamaraju, Aditi Myakal, and Swetha Varma are wasted. Bhusan Kalyan gets a decent part apart from Rahul and Priyadarshi. He is alright. The rest are forgetful.

Music-Director-Vivek-SagarMusic and Other Departments?
Vivek Sagar’s music felt disappointing as standalone audio, but seen as part of the film, it is superb. In fact, it is the only redeemable aspect of the movie. The background score too is brilliant. It is a low budget movie and the problems with other crafts could be seen as the editing and cinematography are bad. The writing is alright with some genuinely unexpected dialogues.

Kamal-KamarajuAlternative Take
The whole thing looks rushed and lacking seriousness, bringing in those aspects with the better technical crew would be a start. And better integration of Siddharth and Krishna tracks into the narrative.
