sumanth-ashwinWhat is the film about?
As the title suggests the film is a love story. There is a boy Siddhu (Sumanth Ashwin) and a girl Chithra (Nanditha). Siddhu hates Chithra for playing devil in his life by creating break-ups with his girlfriends.Little did he realize that one day he would be falling for her. How Siddhu falls for Chithra and did their love story end happily ever after is what the film is about.

How is Sumanth Ashwin’s performance?
Sumanth Ashwin had shown some improvement in his last outing Anthaka Mundu Aa Taruvata compared to his debut film. In Lovers he shows no improvement from his previous film. He is a decent dancer, going by his debut movie, again in this aspect as well he has regressed. With no improvement in either department, Sumanth is clearly overshadowed by the other talented lot in the film due to the heavy comedy quotient despite him being the lead actor.

director-harinath
Direction by Harinath?
It is a pure coincidence one must say that three films that have released in simultaneous weeks have a strong writer-director backing a director. Galipatam had Sampath Nandi, Geethanjali had Kona Venkat and now Harinath comes with the man of the moment Maruthi proving the all important works of a film except for directing. All Harinath had to do was execute it properly and he does that well by maintaining the right graph and energy throughout. He has executed the screenplay perfectly and one must say it’s a confident debut.

nanditha-1
Nanditha and others?
All the films that Nanditha has done so far have meaty role for her where her characterization stands out. Lovers, is no different on that aspect. Here too she gets a character that is strong and she makes it count with her act which is good and in turn helps her hold her fort amidst the comic storm brewing all around her. The man responsible for that comic storm is none other than Sapthagiri. The moment he enters the frame and till he exits, he lifts the film to a whole new level. One can even say he hijacks the main plot of the film as long as he is present and its only after he has left that we feel that there is a actually a story that needs to have a conclusion too. He is that good though the content he is given is definitely offensive when looked from women perspective. Among the rest of the actors, MS Narayana and Sai and three supporting actresses are noticeable. The rest don’t create any impact, in fact Ahuti Prasad is seen just for a frame, if we remember correctly, that’s to illustrate how minuscule his role has been.

music-director-jb
Music by JB and other departments?
JB is giving decent music if not great, consistently. Lovers album too falls into that category. Few numbers due to the placement and picturization do get right response. The background music is decent similarly. Editing is sharp but once again lip-syncing goes for a toss. Cinematography is fine. Screenplay and dialogues by Maruthi are a major asset to the film. The pace of the movie never slackens and the gags keep flowing one after the other which are the major highlights of the film.

still-1
Alternative take:
With a strong hero, the film wouldn’t have been hijacked by comedy and a proper dramatic conclusion to the interesting story at hand could have been achieved. The story-line and the basic conflict it provided had potential but sadly the comedy route to entertain doesn’t fully realize it.

Did I enjoy it?
Yes.

Will you recommend it?
Yes, but be warned of the offensive comedy.
