What is the film about? Jakkanna Review Story Details
Ganesh (Sunil) is taught in the childhood that anyone who helps others needs to be helped in return, it makes them great people. What happens when the child turns adult and still follows that advice seriously is what the film is all about.
How is Sunil’s performance?
After Krishnastami Sunil once again puts his ‘fear’ act and plays a straight up commercial hero. And one must say he is boring once again. Sunil doesn’t have the persona to pull off the typical commercial hero thing. He tries to bring his naivety into play but that makes things only worse. The comic timing is still intact but it is getting wasted.
Direction By Vamsi Krishna? Jakkanna Review Direction Team
The direction is pretty ordinary but there is only so much one can do with a silly and stupid excuse of a story like that. The beginning is interesting and parts of the first half where a small suspense is built is fine but otherwise, Jakkanna is a complete mess all the way.
The film’s biggest problem is the story, it’s terrible and when one makes an entire film on such weak idea it is bound to collapse. First half still feels somewhat okay because of the short duration and an element of suspense built.
Second half of the film is a downright mess with the third act being disastrous. It feels pointless and chore to sit through after a time looking at what’s going on screen. Nothing that Sunil does saves us from the nightmare. The songs are bad and its placement is disastrous. On the whole Jakkanna is an experience one wishes they forgot as soon as possible.
Mannara Chopra and others?
Mannara Chopra makes her debut in Telugu cinema with what can be described as one of the dumbest heroine characters ever. She is a disappointment in terms of performance and is mostly used for glamor. Sapthagiri is alright initially but loses sheen as things progress. Pridhvi is hilarious but even he too is overdoing the ‘Balakrishna’ imitation act. Raja Ravindra has nothing really to do.
Music and other departments? Jakkanna Review Technical Issues
Music by Dinesh is pretty average barring a song. The background score seems to be recycled from various old movies. Cinematography is alright. Editing could have been better. Dialogues are terrible with too much of effort put on punches and ‘prasa’.
Highlights? Jakkanna Review Good
Few comic moments
Short run time
Drawbacks? Jakkanna Review Bad
With such story, there is hardly anything one can do. Maybe a black comedy could have been made out of it, if one seriously worked on the concept.
