Sumanth - Idam Jagath ReviewWhat Is the Film About?
Nishit(Sumanth) is a crime reporter who covers incidents happening in the night. What happens when he covers an accident that ends up in the death of his lover Mahathi’s (Anju Kurian) father? Where does that lead to is what the film is all about?

How Is Sumanth’s Performance?
Sumanth is his usual self with no heavy duty acting. He goes about the proceedings in a casual manner without bringing any depth. It is not worse or bad by any means especially looking at his past efforts, but that is not enough here. The weak writing also gets the blame squarely for making it look like a hollow character.

Director Anil Srikantam - Idam Jagath ReviewDirection by Anil Srikantam?
Anil Srikantam has picked or rather taken an interesting theme relevant to the current times from a Hollywood movie. Those who follow the crime news would easily identify with the proceedings.

The first half of Idham Jagath is all about establishing the world of the protagonist. Why he does what he does and how it is done is shown in the process. The problem is they are weakly directed and written. None of the scenes makes an impact despite the visible presence of content. The interval lacks impact and there is hardly any interest in what happens next.

However, the second half begins well. The immediate happenings are neatly handled with the introduction of a thriller element. The heroine track which looks forced in the first half leads to a couple of engaging moments. It looks like the narrative has found some momentum for a brief period.

Unfortunately, the momentum is short lived and the effects of weak writing come to fore with each new twist. The blocks are there, predictable or otherwise, there is a twist around the corner. But, nothing holds attention due to the poor execution and writing. The climax too is well staged but the way it all comes across creates total disinterest. The protagonist’s resolution of the conflict with the heroine and self-assurance of his work as a survivor is unconvincingly told.

Overall, Idham Jagath is a film that borrows a nice premise and makes a boring and uninteresting film out if it. The opportunity of exploring a unique concept is totally lost.

Anju Kurian - Idam Jagath ReviewAnju Kurian and Others?
Anju Kurian playing the heroine has a typical part. Her part looks forcibly integrated into the narrative and the acting doesn’t help either. Apart from the hero and to an extent the heroine, the rest of the characters don’t have much to do. There are familiar faces like Sathya, Shivaji Raja, Adithya Menon, Shafi etc but they don’t have much to do. Priyadarshi Ram playing the role of channel managing director is alright for the part, but acting is ordinary.

Music-Director-Sricharan-PakalaMusic and Other Departments?
Sricharan Pakala has done a fabulous job with the background score but fails to make any impact with songs. The cinematography is okay. The editing could have been a lot better. The writing is bad and is a major culprit in spoiling the movie.
