Ram PothineniWhat Is the Film About?
Sanju (Ram) comes to Hyderabad to join in a software company. He stays in the house of Vishwanath (Prakash Raj). In his office, Sanju falls for a girl Ritu (Pranitha Subhas). How he later realises his true love for Anupama (Anupama Parameswaran) and what role Vishwanath plays is what the film is all about?

How Is Ram’s Performance?
Ram is a perfect cast for the role. In fact, he is typecast to be precise. He has done hero characters like these before and there is nothing new on offer except for fresh styling and a few dance moves.

However, the good thing here is Ram is adequate for the part despite the feeling of dejavu. He breezes through the narrative with not much of a false note. It is not a memorable role but will do for now.

Director-Trinadha-Rao-NakkinaDirection by Trinadha Rao?
Trinadha Rao Nakkina doesn’t come with any classic pretensions, all he wants to deliver is an entertaining film. This thought is fine and appreciated, but even the entertainment needs to be fresh and engaging and not a recycle of the same old jokes.

Hello Guru Prema Kosam is a follow up of Nenu Local and Cinema Choopista Mava from the director. He has made few films before as well, but this three standout in that they appear to a sequel like progression. The direction and performances have no doubt improved along with the making standards. However, the all-important content is still the same.

As of now, the writing and comedy don’t give an overdose vibe. It feels passable and that’s how the film turns out in the end with a weak story and predictable screenplay. The writer and director duo of Prasanna and Trinadha Rao Nakkina is working well. Now, if they could get a fresh story, as a whole, as well, instead of stretching a simple point with a little tweak.

The small twist in Hello Guru Prema Kosame is father doubling up as a friend. It feels alright initially but has been overstretched beyond a limit. Luckily, they don’t do that till the very end and conclude the climax in a simple way.

The first half is all fun and the second half tries to mix in emotion. The entertainment works, but the emotional quotient lacks depth. It is superficial at best but held together due to writing and Prakash Raj. Ram’s likeable presence also helps a bit.

There is an improvement is a narrative sense. By that we mean, ‘Jabardasth’ blocks that stick out of narrative are missing and there is a attempt to have a smooth flow. Not that there are no such elements. The effort is appreciable and one only wishes the same work would be put on the story in future attempts by retaining the enjoyment.

Overall, Hello Guru Prema Kosame is a routine but passable fare like the previous two films of Trinadha Rao Nakkina. Watch it if you have nothing else to do this festival weekend.

Anupama ParameswaranAnupama, Pranitha and Others?
Anupama Parameswaran has another predictable role just like the hero. She has done her part well similarly. Pranitha Subhash is seen in a small but sweet role. There is nothing much to say otherwise. Prakash Raj is the anchor on which the movie rests. He has done a superb job. His cute chemistry with hero Ram is enjoyable. Apart from them who are main characters, there are a number of known faces which includes the likes of Sitara, Jayaprakash, Posani Krishna Murali etc. They are fine in their parts.

Music Director Devi Sri PrasadMusic and Other Departments?
The songs by Devi Sri Prasad are okay barring one. He makes up for that with the background score that always helps elevate the mood. The cinematography and editing are neat. The choreography is beautiful.

Reducing few needless comedy scenes and adding a blooming romance between the lead pair and juxtaposing it with father and friend conflict would be an alternative take.

Preview: Hello Guru Prema Kosame

In a way, ‘Hello Guru Prema Kosame‘ is one of those luckiest movies that came along with a biggie but has got enough space to deliver big if it turns out to be as entertaining as claimed by the makers and the cast. The advance bookings of the movie are decent though it is a limited release.

This kind of feel-good rom-com isn’t a new thing for Ram and he seemed to be in all his elements when we watched him in the trailer of the movie. Anupama Parameshwaran is adequate for the role while Prakash Raj’s combination with Ram may provide the expected fun to pull the crowds to the theatres.

Music plays a very crucial role to help this kind of romantic comedy. But, it was no chartbuster audio from Devi Sri Prasad for Ram, this time. However, we know that the audio of breezy entertainers plays a key role in the success of such movies. Let’s hope, the songs look good on the screen with some cute visuals to enhance them.

The biggie ‘Aravindha Sametha Veera Raghava’ has slowed down considerably paving way for ‘Hello Guru Prema Kosame’ if it could garner positive word of mouth from the opening shows. Even a decent talk will help the movie a big way as the festival holidays will give the reason for the families and youth to watch the movie.

Coming to Dil Raju, this is the third release for him. After the disappointing ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’, Dil Raju has been betting big and taking every care for getting a good release for Ram’s movie. This movie is as much crucial for Dil Raju as much as for Ram. Ram can step up the ladder only if he can deliver at least a couple of super hits.

Let’s see if Dil Raju and Ram can make use of the favourable situation when NTR’s movie has paved the path for the small movie. Keep watching this space for ‘Hello Guru Prema Kosame’ review from team mirchi9. Stay tuned, folks!
