Snail paced narration lets it down
What is “Gundello Godari” about?
Chitra (Lakshmi) and Malli (Aadi Pinnisetty) are going to get married in a few minutes. Suddenly, floods ruin the entire village and to save their lives, they mount a heap of dry grass. And slowly in the time of turmoil, they reveal their painful pasts to each other. And finally the rest of the story is about how they get saved and unite with each other.
How is Aadi Pinnisetty and Sandeep Kishan?
Aadi had always shown the promise as an actor. He did well in this movie too. His costumes and styling are taken good care of which only helped in taking the audience to the mood of the movie. He is certain to receive a pat on the back. Sandeep Kishan did not have enough screen space in the movie and managed it right in the things he was offered.
How is Kumar Nagendra direction?
The treatment of a movie is always important as the movie story itself. As a newbie, his inexperience is clearly shown in dealing the subject with the screenplay going wayward at many points. The entertainment quotient of the movie is particularly low in the second half which only makes the things difficult for the audience.
What about Lakshmi, and Taapsee ?
Lakshmi Manchu is unarguably one of the best actress of Tollywood today. She delivered excellent performance in all situations. She also worked well on the accent which had been troubling her and managed success partially.
Tapsee is dead drop gorgeous and is a treat to watch for all her fans in her new traditional attire. She managed some decent performance too. Comedy by Praveen and Dhanraj managed some laughs here and there.
How is Music, Songs and Dances &other departments?
All the songs by Ilayaraja are good and are situational. The rerecording produced by using some rare instruments worked out big time and added feel to the movie. Dance movements are also in sync with the songs.
MR Palani Kumar’s camera work is excellent. Especially, the difficult flood scenes are effectively dealt with. The grading which is important for a movie involving lot of sets turned out very well. Editing by Nagi Reddy could have been a lot better especially in the second half.
1. Lakshmi Manchu’s Performance
2. Tapsee’s beauty
3. Excellent art work by Murali Kondeti
4. Maestro’s soulful music
1. Weak direction and screenplay
2. Lack of Entertainment
3. Slow second half
What about its box office prospects?
Lakshmi Manchu had pinned high hopes on the movie to attain the much required comemrcial success. She should be commended for attempting brave subjects like this. At the same time, she should learn that commercial elements are extremely important for the success at the box office.
