EGEV Review
What is the film about?
Emo Gurram Egaravachu is primarily a film about two characters Bullabai (Sumanth) and Neelaveni (Pinki Savika). One is an uneducated bumbling country fool with a heart of gold and the other is a smart, calculated and practical person. How the lovable uneducated Bullabai wins over modern and calculated Neelaveni is what the film is all about.

How is Sumanth’s performance?
Sumanth generally plays characters that are subdued and underplayed but for a change the actor takes up a character that is very over the top in nature. Add to it the Godavari accent it becomes too much to handle in a single film. While the actor needs to be appreciated for going for a makeover it doesn’t work to his advantage here. He continues to look awkward in dances.

EGEV Review
Direction By Chandra Siddharth?
Director Chandra Siddharth has a decent story on hand. It’s thin and relies on small moments and comic scenes to carry like the Christmas success Uyyala Jampala. Here the director misses the bus on those small moments as they end up looking very artificial and leave no impact. His idea to make a complete entertainer on the premise needed a very taut screenplay and a solid act by the cast to hold the attention. He fails on both the counts.

EGEV ReviewPinky Savika and other artists performance?
Pinky Savika a Thai star makes her Telugu debut in the film. And we can understand why she is a star in her native land right at the first glimpse itself. She has a screen presence that is attractive but the dubbing ruins the effect in Telugu and also the characterization which is weak brings things further down. There are a host of character artists in the film including comedy acts by Taguboru Ramesh and Kanchi which are funny in parts. Veteran character artists are well cast in the film but the same can’t be said about the some other important characters like heroine’s father for example.

EGEV ReviewHow is Music, Songs and other departments?
Music by MM Keeravani is superb, he even tries his best to elevate the proceedings by the background music but the screenplay fails him. Editing is poor, cinematography too could have been better, especially the foreign sequences. The VFX wherever used in the film to highlight the country as US stick out as sore thumb. Choreography of songs too is completely unimaginative.

AmruthamWhat about the box office performance of the film?
The film’s story itself comes with a limited audience, the screenplay scares them away too. With such a product on hand Emo Gurram Egaravachu would fail to even take off properly forget about flying. With multiple films coming up this one would be lucky to go beyond a week.

Did I enjoy it?
