What is “Bad Boy” about?
Bad Boy is a routine story of a bad guy Alex Pandian (Karthi) who kidnaps the daughter (Anushka) of a Health Minister. In the backdrop, the baddies wants to sign a deal with the state government. As the Home Minister refuses to sign, they give a contract to Karthi to abduct Anushka. In the journey with her, he slowly transforms in to a good guy and what happens next forms the rest of the story.
How did Karthi do?
Karthi tried his best in his role. Unlike the good boy role he usually plays, Karthi seem to have tried a new variation in his character. But it is not an easy task for him. He has done action sequences without using bodydouble and looks brilliant in stunts. And he also impresses us with his dance.
How is Suraj direction ?
Suraj is best known for delivering comedy movies. But this movie is high on action and very low in comedy. He lost the plot midway and his poor narration fails to attract audience. The story is almost rotten old stuff and is very predictable and some sequences and dialogues are highly avoidable. The director had totally made a mess of some excellent and experienced cast.
What about Anushka, Santhanam and others?
Anushka’s screen presence is more in the second half. But she has nothing in the movie to offer. She was just reduced to a girl in distress who often looks up to the hero. Santhanam is hilarious at parts and irritating at times due to some poorly written scenes. Renuka as Santhanam’s mom and Sanusha, Nikitha Thukral as Santhanam’s sisters are good. Rest of them are okay.
How is Music, Songs &Cinematography?
Devi Sri Prasad’s audio is good but the placement of songs is highly irritating. Karthi had put a decent effort in dances. Cinematographer Sarvanan’s photography is excellent especially, the train action sequence! Editing by Praveen-KL Srikanth is very bad. We are even told the movie is trimmed by 20 minutes from its Tamil version but it does not help in any ways.

What about its box office prospects?
The movie ‘Alex Pandian’ released in Tamil for the Sankranthi season and went on to become a big disaster. People were in confusion why it was again being dubbed in to Telugu. And we do not get the answer even after watching the movie. A complete waste of time and money!
Did I enjoy it?
Not at all.
