Looks like YSR Congress had changed its stance on Rajya Sabha elections. While they earlier said they will refrain from voting, it is said they will be voting in favour of Rebel candidate in fray, Adala Prabhakar Reddy. Adala’s close relatives in YSRCP, Mekapati brother reportedly convinced Jagan to vote for Adala. With this support, Adala will win the support of 23 MLAs. He also pinned hopes on the support of 2 CPM MLAs. So, he is just short of 5 MLAs to win Rajya Sabha seat. This was announced by Adala himself, YSRCP is yet to announce it officially.
This chance of win for Adala will make life difficult for K.Kesava Rao who is in fray for Rajya Sabha seat as TRS nominee. Both Adala and KK are in race for the sixth vacant seat. On the other side, Cross Voting in this election is not easy as it is an open ballot system. MLA will have to show his vote to his party’s represent before casting it. It will be interesting see how things turn on February 7th.
