YSRCP Government Pitting Poor Against Poor? According to a Report in Eenadu, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government had set a target of giving House Sites to 25 Lakh Poor by Ugadi. The Government has taken this scheme prestigiously but acquiring the land has become very difficult. The Government so far identified 21,60,565 beneficiaries for the scheme.

Each beneficiary will be given One and half-cent in villages and one cent in Towns. The Government had 26,655.44 acres of land ready which will cater to the needs of 12,25,093 beneficiaries. The Government needs 11,879.71 acres worth 11,000 Crore. But the Government is not in a position to spend so much money.

So, the Government is resorting to Land Pooling in some areas and vacating the poor who have been cultivating in Government lands from Several years. Giving the experiences in Amaravati, farmers are not ready to co-operate with the Government in Land Pooling. Officials are forcibly vacating the poor in the occupied lands.

Opposition parties are gearing up to lead the agitations against the Government in all the districts. “The Government is pitting the poor against the poor. This is a dangerous precedent,” they allege. They add the behavior of the Government towards Amaravati farmers only brought troubles to the Government. “People will no longer trust the Governments going forward,” they say.
