Students in Social Media inspired by the Jallikattu protests in Marina Beach have called for a silent protest in RK Beach, Vishakapatnam demanding Special Status for Andhra Pradesh. The movement is planned by students and completely apolitical. But then, Political parties have started creeping in.
It began with Jana Sena and now YSR Congress is in the ring. Immediately after the protest was announced, YSR Congress announced that it would conduct a candlelight protest rally on the same day in Vishakapatnam. Students who are taking up this movement are lambasting the Jagan’s party for trying to politicize their protest.
“Any program or event demanding #APSCS is welcome.Request all supporters esp youth to come forward, support & make these events a big success (sic)” Jagan Mohan Reddy tweeted a little while ago. The organizers are worried that political movement will only dilute the seriousness of the protest.
