Congress party is clearly reeling under the pressure of massive failure they bagged in the recent general elections. The party is well short of even getting the Leader of Opposition status in Lok Sabha. In general Speaker has a say in such occasion whether to allot the status or not. Earlier, Congress denied such opportunity to Telugu Desam Party during the first election of Rajiv Gandhi. And BJP has clearly indicated that they are going to do the same with Congress.

However Congress President Sonia Gandhi does not want to take this humiliation lightly. It is said that she wants to merge YSR Congress in to Congress party at any cost. With the help of the eight MP seats, YSR Congress possess, Congress make it to the Leader of Opposition status. It is rumoured in Delhi that talks are already on in this regard but YSRCP is condemning the news for the moment.
