East Godavari is one of the most crucial district in Andhra Pradesh poll scenario. Usually the party which gets majority there forms the government in the state always. Now YSR Congress is turning its attention to this district. In order to pump energy in to local leaders and cadre, Jagan is planning to field his mother YS Vijayamma from Anaparthy constituency in East Godavari. Reddys are in majority in this district and Jagan hopes they will help Vijayamma win easily. Also Vijayamma’s presence there will influence the winning chances of neighbouring constituencies too.
Vijayamma is currently representing Pulivendhula constituency from Kadapa district. There is a proposal that Vijayamma also contest in this constituency too. But some feel contesting from both will give negative signals and lose a seat. Similar scenario happened to Chiranjeevi in 2009 elections. He contested from Palakollu and Tirupati and lost from Palakollu. In case, YS Vijayamma do not contest from Pulivendhula, Jagan himself will contest there.
