Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy will be in the National Capital tomorrow and will be meeting the Prime Minister and Home Minister. This is already the second such meeting in a month.
Buzz in Telugu Desam Camp is that Jagan is planning to dissolve the assembly early on one name or the other and face the election in November or December.
The anti-incumbency against the Government is increasing day by day. That is evident with the recent MLC elections. There is growing discontentment among the MLAs as well. Already four MLAs left the party and more are on the way.
The government’s popularity will fall quickly in these situations.
Also, Lokesh’s Padayatra is becoming popular and Chandrababu Naidu is also looking to hit the ground next month.
Early elections mean the Opposition will not have time to prepare. So, it is a safe option.
But once Jagan resigns, it is up to the Central Government when to have the election. It can also delay the elections until next year’s summer. If that happens, Jagan will be doomed with government machinery taking over the administration via Governor. So, Jagan wants assurance of the November/December election before his resignation.
KCR also dissolved Telangana Assembly in 2018 after taking a similar assurance from Modi.
