Jagan Should Sacrifice Vijaya Sai Reddy for ViswasaneeyathaOpposition Leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced that his MPs will stage protests in the next leg of the Parliament Budget Session starting from March 5th and will resign on April 6th if the session ends without the announcement of Special Status to Andhra Pradesh. However, this seems to be a calculated drama to impress the people as well as be on the safe side.

YSR Congress Senior Leader Botsa Satya Narayana clarified that only Loksabha MPs will resign that day but Rajya Sabha MP Vijaya Sai Reddy will continue. Loksabha MPs even though submit their resignations they are unlikely to face Byelections since the General Elections will be less than a year away after the Speaker accepts them.

Whereas if Rajya Sabha MP resigns and if the resignation is accepted, the seat is lost for YSR Congress and they can not win it back in the numbers game. Vijaya Sai Reddy’s Tenure is till 2022 and Rajya Sabha MPs are gold dust given that the ruling party does not have a majority there. This statement of YSR Congress became a weapon in TDP’s hand.

The ruling party is always maintaining that this entire fiasco is a drama and Jagan has no honesty to put the central government under pressure by genuine resignations. On the other side, TDP is mulling the pulling out of its ministers from Union Cabinet from March 5th if Center does not make a concrete announcement about the special assistance to the state.
