Andhra Pradesh government in the GST Council meeting the other day asked the Center to relieve the burden of GST on the Capital Construction. 18% GST is being levied on various construction activities and this will take a heavy toll on the state exchequer.
The State Government had requested the Central Government and the GST Council to exempt Amaravati works totally from GST. But then, experts and the way Center has been treating Andhra Pradesh, such exemption may be unlikely.
Central Government has lowered the GST on Government Contracts from 18% to 12% but then, the notification is yet to be implemented. On the other side, the construction of Permanent Buildings in Amaravati will be formally launched on Vijaya Dasami day.
