Andhra Pradesh seems to be gearing up for yet another by-election. Buzz is that Spy Reddy, Kothapalli Geetha and Butta Renuka who have won on YSR Congress Tickets and have defected, may be disqualified. Lok Sabha Speaker is likely to take a decision on their disqualification very soon basing on the report by Parliament Privileges Committee.
Spy Reddy may be disqualified immediately but Kothapalli Geetha’s future is still in doubt since she distanced herself from YSR Congress but has not affiliated with any other party even as she appeared to be closer to TDP at one time and BJP at some other time. Butta Renuka has defected recently and her disqualification may take more time.
Spy Reddy is from Nandhyal. TDP has grown strong in Kurnool district recently and TDP winning Nandhyal Assembly Segment By-Election will infuse confidence in the ruling party. Geetha’s Araku Constituency will be the best bet to the Opposition Party since the party has got good support in STs.
Butta Renuka is from Kurnool Parliamentary Segment where YSR Congress is in absolute shambles right now. The party is expected to lose big in Kurnool district when compared to 2014 Results. In all probability, Andhra Pradesh Politics may see another Election War very soon and it will be very crucial since they will happen one year before 2019 General Elections.
