ministry-of-home-affairs - Andhra Pradesh CapitalA Right to Information activist has filed an application regarding the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The Union Home Ministry was asked what is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The petitioner’s idea is to know the stance of the Union Government. But then, the reply says the information is already in the public domain.

Expecting a clever reply, the applicant asked if the capital of AP has changed after 2019. The ministry came up with a more intelligent reply. It has been said that information does not fall under the decision of ‘information according to the RTI Act, the ministry replied.

He also sought information about the funds given to Amaravati smart city and about the funds spent by the Center in various projects of Amaravati. The application was transferred to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Department of Expenditure.

It looks like the Center is dodging its responsibility from the Capital issue of Andhra Pradesh. Instead of such a negligent reply, the Union Government should have simply avoided answering saying that the matter is sub judice.
