Newest State of the country, Telangana failed to win a single spot in the first list of cities that are to be developed as Smart Cities in co-operation with the Central government. The center is selecting the cities by putting competition among the states on various parameters relating to the smart cities development.
The 23 cities who could not find a place in the first list are competing in the second round competition. Tirupati from AP and Karimnagar and Waragal from Telangana are in the race. In the first list, Vishakapatnam and Kakinada were selected but Telangana drew bank. So the state government has pinned high hopes on this list.
The last date for the submission of the proposals is 21st of this month. Telangana government already spent the proposal of Warangal on 15th of this month. The new list of Smart Citires will be finalized and announced by the Central government by August.
