Congress, Congress Hopes Special Status, Congress Hopes Special Status Andhra Pradesh, Congress Come Back Andhra Special StatusExpecting electoral gains in Telangana, Congress hastily divided Andhra Pradesh in the last minute before 2014 elections. But then the party confined to opposition in the newest state of the country while drawing a blank in AP. Congress had reached a position from Zero to the position of ruling Andhra Pradesh for a decade.

Congress is now pinning all its hopes on Special Status issue to make a comeback in Andhra Pradesh. The Party had brought up the Private Member Bill in Rajya Sabha to corner the center and get some political gain in AP. But then Arun Jaitley steered Center out of trouble citing legal and technical issues in the bill. It would have been a big embarrassment for Modi government if the bill is taken up for voting and is passed in the house.

Congress, however, do not want to leave the issue there and is further trying to grill the center with it. The party is planning to move a privilege motion on Finance Minister and Leader of the house in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley for misleading the house. Congress alleged that Jaitley gave wrong information to the house about 14th Finance Commission refusing Special Status to AP.

On the other side, Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Subba Rami Reddy announced that he will be going to Supreme Court over the issue. Even though Congress can make no much impact on the Center, it will be successful in belittling BJP in the people of Andhra Pradesh. It has to be seen if AP people forget about the bifurcation and embrace Congress for this fight for Special Status.
