Will Azharuddin Win Old City for Congress?Former Indian Cricketer and Congress MP, Mohammed Azharuddin is keen on making a comeback to electoral politics and this time from Telangana. He is seeking Secunderabad Lok Sabha seats in the next elections on Congress ticket.

Senior Congress Leader, Anjan Kumar Yadav, who was recently appointed the president of Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee, is a two-time MP from Secunderabad and is seeking the ticket this time. Azhar’s candidature will woo Muslim voters of Old City towards Congress, the high command feels.

Old City is out of Congress‘ Grip since it broke up with MIM. Azhar, who won the Lok Sabha election from Moradabad (UP) in 2009 but lost in 2014 from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan). BJP’s Bandaru Dattatreya won from Secunderabad in the last elections but is unlikely to contest this time.

The party is planning to field Senior MLA Kishan Reddy from this segment. BJP was benefitted from the alliance with TDP in the last elections but is unlikely to have the advantage this time. TRS is also seriously trying to win this seat this time at any cost.
