Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao is mum about his support to NDA in the upcoming Presidential Elections. KCR earlier pledged his support to TRS but is reconsidering that after Amit Shah’s Telangana Tour and its after effects.
KCR discussed this in the Cabinet meeting the other day. Some of the Ministers have asked KCR to link Muslim Reservations and TRS‘ Support to NDA’s Candidate. The Chief Minister will take a call about it. BJP is currently in consultations with all the stakeholders to have a unanimous election but it does not look possible.
Telangana passed a Bill which will allow 12% Reservations to Muslims and 10% Reservations to Scheduled Tribes. But BJP is opposing reservations based on religion. These Reservations increase the total reservations in the state more than the mandated 50%. Telangana government wants the Center to put this into the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution which will make it immune to the 50% Rule. Tamil Nadu has bypassed the 50% Rule in a similar way.
