Chief Ministers of both the Telugu States – YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and K Chandrasekhara Rao are planning to construct a massive project on the Godavari which will ensure Godavari water supply to Telangana and Rayalaseema as well. The Project has come under criticism from the AP side because the Project will be largely located in Telangana.
The Opposition says AP will be under the mercy of Telangana Government for water in future. But then, Jagan says that he believes in the bonhomie of KCR than anything else and is ready to go forward with the plan. Officials of both the States are busy finalizing the DPR of the Project.
At this juncture, Chief Minister Jagan had written a letter to the Central Government asking to co-operate for this project which will suffice the water problems of Rayalaseema. YSR Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vijaya Sai Reddy handed over the letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister in Delhi.
It has to be seen what the Central Government does about it. It will all boil down to the Political Decision of the BJP. The Saffron Party is likely to oppose this Project, sources tell us.
