KCR Chhattisgarh Power plan

Telangana Government has backed out from the proposal of having a special power transmission line between the state and neighbouring Chhattisgarh. Telangana suffers from severe power shortage and is reeling under the pressure of heavy power cuts for domestic and agricultural use and power holidays for the industries. The only option for Telangana is to buy power from the Power surplus Chhattisgarh state but there are no transmission lines between both the state.

KCR had ordered for laying the line and complete it in the next 3 years. However, the officials have submitted a report that this line will cost a whopping 3000 Crore rupee. This will involve construction of several substations in both the states which will not financially feasible. So, Telangana is almost ruled out of buying power from Chhattisgarh option. Power woes are set to increase in Telangana as the demand from agriculture is on a rise as it is the crucial days in Kharif season. There is a power deficit of 20 MU despite having severe power cuts and a day of power holiday to industries.
