While Focus is on Telangana State, Uranium Exploration Silently begins in Andhra PradeshLast month, there is a huge uproar against Uranium Mining in Telangana. KCR Government had to succumb to the pressure and made a resolution in the State Assembly that the Government will not allow Uranium Mining or Exploration in Nallamala Forest. However, while the focus is on Telangana, Uranium Exploration silently began in Andhra Pradesh.

The Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research has taken up drilling at 15 different location in Kurnool district in search for uranium. The operation is taking place from Allagadda Mandal headquarters to Gajulapalli in Mahanandi Mandal.

District authorities said that the directorate was drilling about 250 meters deep for extracting samples which will be sent to their laboratories to determine the mineral content. The other day, former TDP Minister Akhila Priya reached the spot and had a heated argument with the officials.

Now, the issue was raked by Pawan Kalyan and he demanded an explanation from the State Government. “AP Govt should give a clarity, regarding the drilling for uranium in Allagadda( As the report says…). How come AP govt doesn’t have any clue about it? It’s surprising that dist collector doesn’t know about it. But, we assure people around Nallamala area, we are there to support you and fight along with you. (sic),” Pawan Kalyan tweeted.
