Brahmananda Pathra who has headed the AP Campaign of Prashant Kishor’s I-PAC for YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been brought into Andhra Pradesh Government now. He is appointed the Chief Digital Director of Social Media Unit in Information and Public Relations. It is quite common that the Governments accommodate their men in one or the other nominated posts.
But there is more than the eye meets in this appointment. YSR Congress with the help of I-PAC unleashed a ruthless Social Media Campaign in Andhra Pradesh during the TDP Regime. With the deeper penetration of Jio and Whatsapp even in the rural markets, the campaign hit the ground as well and brought Chandrababu Naidu down.
By the time, TDP has realized that they are out of Power. TDP Supporters and TDP Leadership learned the lesson hard way and started focusing on Social Media. Even though TDP has the muscle of a strong fan base, it is still unorganized. But then, the new government is already feeling the heat even with that.
TDP which rarely trended a hashtag during their rule is trending anti-Jagan hashtags every now and then. The appointment is to plug the damage. Several issues like Reddy’s Domination, Political Murders, Sand Shortage, Party Colours for Public Properties and others have come into light due to Social Media. It has to be seen if this appointment will change the Government image.
