This morning, an answer to a Question in Parliament has created ripples in Andhra Pradesh. In the so called answer, the Center mentions Vishakapatnam as the Capital of Andhra Pradesh. It has sparked a huge debate.
Pro-YSR Congress supporters have rejoiced saying that Center has ratified the proposal of three capitals. But then, the happiness did not last longer. The Union Government has corrected the error it has committed to.
The Center has clarified that the particular column saying Capital should instead be read as Capital or Reference City.
In this case, the capital is mentioned for the remaining states while Vishakapatnam is taken as Reference city for Andhra Pradesh.
That said it’s for the courts to decide about the future of the proposed three capitals and Amaravati.
