The new vehicles in Telangana bought after June will possibly have new Registration numbers of the new state. The existing State code ‘AP’ will be possibly changed to a new code like ‘TG’. The set of two numericals after the state code usually denote districts. As of now, there are 38 codes in 23 districts with Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Krishna, Ranga Reddy and a few other districts getting multiple codes.
There is a possibility that these district codes may be changed as well. It is said that the old vehicles will have the old numbers for the time being. Some say they may even have to be changed when the high security registration plate (HSRP) are to be affixed. The HSRP has to be affixed before December, 2015. With this changes in Telangana, there ought to be some confusion in Andhra Pradesh vehicles as well. We will have to see how all these are dealt.
