Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu met Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal this morning. The meeting assumes significance due to the ongoing power controversy between AP and Telangana. Chandra Babu requested Goyal to allow Andhra Pradesh use the power produced by itself for the state itself. Chandra Babu explained that there is an acute power shortage in Seema Andhra so it can not afford to give its power to Telangana region.

Piyush Goyal accepted to supply coal to Andhra Pradesh from NTPC railway lines which will allow generation of 500MW additional power in the next two months. Chandra Babu also urged Piyush Goyal to begin the 24 hours power supply pilot project as quickly as possible. After the meeting Chandra Babu said that it is his government’s aim to supply 24 hours power to domestic use and 9 hours power to agriculture.
