It is almost nearing an year of Telangana formation but the official map of the new state is still not ready. Survey of India was entrusted with the task and the officials there claim that the maps of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are ready but it requires a gazette order from the Union ministry of home affairs for the official release.
There is no there mention in the Reorganization Act to demarcate the state boundaries and the delay is attributed to MHA sitting on the gazette order for individual maps. Absence of an official map may give rise to disputes over territorial boundaries.
There are a few villages along the Adilabad district which receive funds from the Maharashtra and Telangana governments. So an official map is certainly the need of hour. We will have to see if the maps are released by June 2nd, the first anniversary of Telangana state formation.
