Union Water Resources Minister, Uma Bharati sent a copy of her letter to the Prime Minister to the State government. PMO sent a memo to the Water Resources Ministry that the expenses of Polavaram should be prepared in such a way that 70% should be borne by the Center and the other 30% by the State government.
Uma Bharati wrote a letter to the PMO that such a move is against the spirit of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act and the very definition of a National Project. Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act recognizes Polavaram Project as a National Project and the Center has to bear the total expense of the project.
PMO sent the memo on March 29th and Uma Bharati wrote the letter on April 29th. Modi government already did enough to slow down the project by allocating meager 100 Crore per year and now they are trying to further complicate the process. This letter will also politically defame Modi government.
