A section of Telugu Media and People have rushed into praise Odisha Government in dealing with Cyclone Fani just to undermine Chandrababu Naidu’s effective management of during Hudhud and Titli Cyclones. Sakshi went a step ahead writing that in AP, Cyclone Fani effect was efficiently combated just because the Chief Minister is not involved this time.
But things seem to be so different in Odisha. While the state government has acted proactively in evacuating the people in the affected areas and thereby decreasing the deaths, things are far from normal in the restoration front. Large parts of the State including the Capital Bhubaneshwar are without Power.
People are shelling out 25 Rupees to charge their Mobile Phone and are shelling out 2000 to 3000 Rupees to charge their inverters once. Electric and Telecom Poles are yet to be rectified in most places. Not taking anything away from an economically backward state like Odisha, these efforts are nowhere near the Superman efforts of Naidu.
There is an acute shortage of food and water everywhere. Most Petrol Bunks are closed and those opened are making a merry with huge rates. The local media is estimating a minimum of another fortnight for things to return to normalcy. This is definitely far from the effective handling of the situation during the Cyclones in Andhra Pradesh.
