Tummala Nageswara Rao who is one of the founding members of TDP, ditched the party and joined TRS after 2014 elections. Khammam is a weak turf for TRS since its inception due to huge settlers presence. Telangana CM KCR himself went all the way to Tummala and invited him to the party. KCR coming down a step worked largely in favour of the party.
Tummala was made Minister in KCR’s cabinet and was given a free hand over Khammam politics. This is totally a surprise to every one who know KCR. Tummala made sure that he destroyed TDP cadre and structure in the district and led TRS to a sensational victory in the recent Municipal elections.
Not only in Khammam, Tummala is using his influence in TDP to bring MLAs of his own caste in to the party. That further elevated his range in the party. It is emerging that Tummala is thinking to bring his son in to politics by fielding him in Paleru by-election which will happen in near future as the sitting Congress MLA, Ramreddy Venkatreddy’s sudden demise.
