In a bid to encourage consumption of healthy foods, Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam(TTD) has kick-started a pilot program through which it is providing organic food items to pilgrims.
TTD launched the organic food canteen on Thursday. The TTD officials are also taking feedback from devotees to determine if any alterations are needed to be made to the menu.
The food grains and other essential ingredients are grown through organic farming methods and this is a not-for-profit implementation. The food items will be sold at affordable prices.
The canteen will be serving breakfast and meals to pilgrims. The menu consists only of traditional food items. The pilot program will be continued till the 8th of September.
