Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had changed the name of his Telangana Rashtra Samiti into Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti with National Party ambitions. The formal announcement is done but bigger challenges await KCR.
Firstly, Election Commission should agree to this change and allot the common ‘car’ symbol to BRS candidates in all states. Car symbol is the symbol of TRS for twenty two years and it is important that it is retained.
One would expect KCR has done enough home work with the EC before announcing this step. If there are any loopholes, BJP led Central Government will use it to make things difficult.
The immediate challenge for BRS is right in its backyard – the Manugode By-election. Any adverse result there means BRS future and KCR/KTR’s political future will be in trouble.
If BRS loses Manugode, no one beyond Telangana will take KCR seriously as Desh Ki Netha. BJP will come full force in Telangana and try to unsettle KCR using Central agencies and its clout in Delhi like how it did to Chandrababu in 2018-19.
As of now, Party leaders themselves are not sure about the actual intentions of KCR behind this National Party ambitions. Problems and enemies will only increase for KCR after this. Let us see what is in store for the Pink Party in the coming days.
