TRS has come in defense of Telangana MSOs over Union government’s threat to cancel the licenses in case of not unblocking TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothy Channels in the state. TRS MP Jithender Reddy met Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and informed him that it was AP MSOs first who resorted to the ban of Telangana channels like V6 and T-News.

He urged the center to ensure Telangana channels in AP just in case Telangana MSOs have to unban TV9 and ABN Andhrajyothy. However Jithender Reddy maintained that Telangana government has no role in banning of these channels in Telangana. Javadekar has said them that he is not aware of blocking V6 and T-News channels in Seema Andhra and promised to look in to the issue at the earliest. Government was tight-lipped on this issue since the day the ban happened. It is the first time the ruling party coming in defense of the MSOs.

It is known that the channels were banned by the MSOs of the region after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao slammed them in Assembly for airing derogatory news on the region. Andhra Jyothy had taken the issue to the concerned officials, central government and the governor but the ban is still in place. Journalists allege that it is KCR’s government behind MSOs in this ban issue.
