Tragedy Strikes MS Student In A Swimming AccidentAbin Philip, 24, was swimming with a group of close friends after traveling to the Sunshine Coast’s Gardeners Falls for a day of adventure when he jumped into the water from a rope swing and did not resurface.

Though his friends tried to find him, they could not. Abin’s body was found later in the evening by rescuers. Abin is remembered fondly as a gentleman and a socially active person who loved friends and his community.

Abin was passionate about soccer and was also a very good photographer. His friends say he was quite creative and an active member of the Kerala Community on the Sunshine Coast, representing international students at the Executive Committee of the Sunshine Coast Kerala Association.

Abhi moved to Sunshine Coast in 2019 and was in the final year of his studies. Back home, he was from Ernakulam district, where he has his parents and a brother who is in Bengaluru. The grieving family of Abhi has decided to have a funeral in India.

Subsequently, a fundraiser has been raised in honor of Abhi to bring back Abhi’s body for his funeral and repay his education fees.
