YS Jagan - Andhra Pradesh RoadsBad Roads are one of the major complaints of Andhra Pradesh people in two years of the new government. Summer is a crucial time for road works. It is idle time to lay new roads and repair the existing ones. But then, cash-strapped Andhra Pradesh has let go this season which means horrible roads await the commuters in the rainy season.

The government, in fact, called for tenders for road works but there has been no response in many districts from contractors. There has been response only fin Kadapa, Chittoor, and Anantapur districts. There has been a lukewarm response in the Vizianagaram district. There were no takers for 2205 Crore worth of road works.

Out of the 1,123 Road works called for tenders, only 300 works received some response. It is clear that even the proposed three capitals will have to contend with bad roads in the monsoon season. The government has been sitting on the previous bills for two years and so, they are not interested in further works.

The COVID and banks refraining from giving loans to such companies due to pending bills are also the reason. So, the people of Andhra Pradesh should brace for another long spell of back pain and bad journeys.
